Leading with Resilience: An Interview with Dr. Kristy K. Taylor

Dr. Kristy K. Taylor is a PARWCC Certified Career Coach, a Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP), an ICF-accredited Executive Coach, and an HR professional specializing in career coaching, career branding, and diversity-focused events. She is the founder of WORxK Solutions, LLC and WORxK Global News Magazine. With more than 20 years of experience in training, education, and coaching, she has become a trusted voice in career development and inclusive leadership. In this interview-style feature, Dr. Taylor opens up about her journey, challenges, and what drives her mission today.

Q: Dr. Taylor, can you share a bit about how your journey began?

Absolutely. My career started in healthcare and higher education, where I spent years mentoring students and supporting their growth. As a military veteran, I learned the importance of resilience, adaptability, and leadership early on. No matter where I worked, one thing was constant: I was always drawn to helping people build careers and lives that truly aligned with their purpose. That passion eventually led me to launch WORxK Solutions.

Q: What was it like starting WORxK Solutions?

Starting my own company wasn’t easy. Leaving behind the structure of healthcare and education to build something from the ground up required both faith and courage. Along the way, there were setbacks, doubts, and plenty of lessons learned. But my purpose kept me steady.

WORxK Solutions is more than just a coaching firm. It’s a career ecosystem focused on career branding, leadership development, and mindset coaching. We also create spaces for other coaches, speakers, and authors to come together through WORxK Global News Magazine, our diversity-focused events like the DiversityWORxKS Round Table Series, and our annual signature event, The Rx for Career Success Summit.

At its core, it’s about more than individual success. It’s about building resilient careers and stronger communities.

Q: Your mission expanded in 2024 with several initiatives continuing this year. Can you tell us more about that?

Yes, 2024 was truly a pivotal year for us. We hosted several events, including the Mental Health Matters Summit, launched Season 1 of the DEIA Roundtable Series and just kicked off Season 2 last month, and continued strengthening communities like SAAFE (the Strategic Alliance for African American Female Entrepreneurs) and CRRN (the Career & Resiliency Resource Network). Together, these communities now bring together more than 1,600 members and serve as safe spaces for growth, mentorship, and leadership, particularly for women and underrepresented professionals.

We also launched WORxK Global News Magazine earlier this year to empower mission-driven leaders with insights on leadership, diversity, resiliency, and community impact. The magazine not only highlights changemakers but also provides actionable strategies for transforming careers and workplaces.

Q: Earlier this year, you experienced a personal setback when you were impacted by federal layoffs. How did that shape your journey?

That moment was tough. I had to put my own resilience into practice. But instead of retreating, I leaned into my faith, my work, and my sense of purpose. Out of that season came some incredible milestones. Our book Rx for Career Success: Elevate Your Mindset, Transform Your Career became a #1 Amazon Bestseller, and we hosted our first Rx for Career Success Summit. Both reminded me that setbacks often lead to even greater beginnings.

Q: What impact do you hope your work has on others?

For me, it’s never just about helping someone land a job. It’s about helping them find their voice, align their careers with their values, and step confidently into leadership. Through WORxK Solutions, SAAFE, CRRN, and the magazine, I’ve been blessed to see people not only advance their careers but also build networks that support lasting success.

Q: What do you hope listeners and readers will take away from your story?

I hope they see that setbacks and transitions don’t have to define you; they can refine you. The lesson is that you can rewrite your career story at any stage. With the right mindset, strategy, and support, you can build a brand and a career that truly reflect your strengths and values.

Dr. Kristy Taylor’s story is one of resilience, purpose, and leadership. Today, she continues to empower professionals to embrace their potential and write their own prescription for career success.
