Gujarat Emerges as a Pioneering Hub for Startups and Entrepreneurship

The Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has acknowledged the outstanding startup ecosystem in Gujarat, recognizing over 91,000 startups. 

The state government claims Gujarat’s leadership in the 2018, 2019, and 2021 startup rankings, attributing this success to a robust mentorship system.

Fostering Growth and Recognition:

Gujarat’s state government received the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration for its commendable implementation of the Startup India scheme. 

With more than 300 registered mentors, the government has disbursed Rs 43 crore to 390 startups, resulting in over 125 patents filed.

Gujarat has established institutions such as the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development Network, Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Gujarat Venture Finance Limited, iCreate, iACE, and iHub to provide an enriching mentoring atmosphere for startups. These entities contribute by offering technical and financial support to startups.

A Prominent Focus for Gujarat:

In a strategic move to empower MedTech innovators and reduce reliance on imported medical devices, Gujarat launched the MedTech Mitra platform. 

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya praised the initiative and emphasized the potential for India’s medical device industry to become a $50 billion by 2030.

Former special chief secretary JA Chowdary announced the India Startup Festival (ISF-2024), which is set to take place at Osmania University in March 2024. 

The event seeks to bring together key players in the startup ecosystem and provide a platform for collaboration and innovation.

Delhi Schools Propel 32 Students to the NDA:

Delhi schools achieved remarkable success in 2023, with 32 students securing coveted National Defence Academy (NDA) positions. 

This academic achievement reflects the commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals skilled in excelling in various fields.
