According to The Information, Apple is developing a smaller version of the iPhone, which is slated to be released in 2025.

According to a report by The Information, Apple is working on a thinner version of the iPhone, which is expected to be launched by 2025.

The new model, code-named D23, is likely to be released with the iPhone 17 in September 2025. Sources familiar with the project indicated that this slimmer version will be priced higher than the current iPhone Pro Max.

Advanced Features and Design Testing:

The Cupertino-based tech giant is still testing different designs for the device. The new iPhone is anticipated to feature Apple’s latest-generation processor, the A19.

This development signals Apple’s ongoing efforts to innovate and enhance its flagship product amidst fierce competition in the global smartphone market.

Market Competition and Sales Performance:

Apple’s push for a revamped iPhone comes at a time when the company faces stiff competition from brands like Honor and Huawei in China and Samsung globally.

According to International Data Corporation, Samsung held the largest market share in the first quarter of 2024, with 20.8%, while Apple accounted for 17.3%. In Apple’s fiscal second quarter, iPhone sales fell by 10.5%, amounting to $45.96 billion.

Changes in Product Lineup:

In addition to developing the new high-end iPhone, Apple plans to discontinue its less expensive iPhone Plus model.

The company also intends to launch a more affordable iPhone, succeeding the iPhone SE, in the spring of 2025. These strategic moves aim to address various market segments and maintain Apple’s competitive edge.

Recent Product Announcements:

The report on the new iPhone model follows Apple’s recent unveiling of the latest iPad Pro, equipped with a new chip designed for artificial intelligence computing. This move highlights Apple’s commitment to catching up with other tech giants in the race to dominate emerging AI technology.
