A Prodigy’s Journey
Born in Singapore, Congyu Wang’s musical odyssey began at the tender age of three. Gifted with prodigious talent, he earned a scholarship to the prestigious École Normale de Musique de Paris, where he studied under Jean-Marc Luisada and Odile Catelin-Delangle. He further refined his artistry at Schola Cantorum (Paris) under Gabriel Tacchino, Francis Poulenc’s only student.
Champion of Competitions
From his youth, Congyu Wang has been a force in the international piano competition scene. His accolades include the Grand Prize in Berlin and Bordeaux, as well as numerous awards from competitions in Paris, Jakarta, Tallinn, and beyond. In 2016, he was heralded by Singapore’s national news journal, ZaoBao, as the country’s most promising young artist.
At the Chopin International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Slovenia, a dramatic turn of events highlighted his artistic integrity. Despite being awarded 6th Prize, juror François Weigel resigned in protest, believing Congyu deserved the top honor.
Global Performer
Congyu’s career has seen him deliver over 1200 recitals in countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa. His performances have graced iconic venues and festivals, including the Geza Anda Piano Festival (Berlin), Amarante International Piano Festival (Portugal), and the Chopin Festival (Belgrade). Known for his ability to tackle demanding repertoire, he has performed 30 piano concertos and the complete solo piano works of Chopin and Poulenc.

Congyu’s debut album, ‘Charme,’ featuring works by Francis Poulenc, and his follow-up, ‘Reflets,’ dedicated to Claude Debussy, have been lauded by critics and frequently broadcast on major international radio stations. In 2019, he brought his talent to the silver screen with a feature in the French film ‘Une Barque sur l’Ocean,’ directed by Arnold de Parscau.
