Meta Platforms’ Instagram has resumed normal operation for most users following a disruption that lasted over three hours on Thursday, as reported by Downdetector.com.

Data from Downdetector.com indicates a decrease in reported outages, with figures dropping to approximately 400 after peaking at over 5,000 reports from users encountering difficulties accessing Instagram in the United States around 2230 GMT.

Predominant Issues Reported:

According to the outage tracking website, most of the reported problems were related to login issues experienced by users on the Instagram app.

This recent outage adds to the disruptions experienced by Instagram and its parent company, Facebook. Earlier in March, both platforms experienced an outage lasting over two hours, affecting hundreds of thousands of users.

Downdetector Role in Tracking Outages:

Downdetector.com is vital in monitoring outages by aggregating status reports from various sources, including user-submitted error reports.

Meta Platforms, Instagram’s parent company, has not responded quickly to Reuters’ request for comment on the outage.
